Disaster Recovery
When the jobs of the Red Cross, FEMA, and other first response disaster relief agencies are complete, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is called in to help meet the long-term or unmet needs of the persons affected by the disaster.

In times of disaster, the Society provides help with any or all of the following as available: furniture, household linens and wares, building materials, and financial aid. Many homes were repaired by the Society after the Flood of 2002 in San Antonio and surrounding counties.
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul has a National Disaster Response Plan and policy for commitment. We respond to disasters that cause human suffering or create human needs, that those affected cannot alleviate without assistance.
We are an independent humanitarian, voluntary international organization, not an agency or government. We are very open about who we are and who we represent, i.e. Frederick Ozanam and St. Vincent de Paul, and we give God all the Glory.
We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) dedicated to helping relieve the suffering of people struck by any kind of disaster. All members are volunteers, and no member draws a salary. Funding is provided by donations from Churches, individuals, businesses and SVDP Conferences from the respective Diocese/City/County of a disaster.
We also have a Society of St. Vincent de Paul National Disaster Fund that is available to us upon request and approval by the National President.
